Novice players have multiple options for the weekend.
1) Participate in the Backgammon for Everyone workshop, including one backgammon tournament Saturday and an optional tournament Friday.
2) Compete in multiple tournaments throughout the weekend.
Full details below.
Beginner Events:
Backgammon for Everyone
This program lead by Julius High and Tom Jayne and sponsored by the USBGF is a great opportunity to build your skills, learn new topics, and have fun playing with other like-minded enthusiasts.
Beginner ABT Tournaments
There will be three backgammon tournaments for beginners over the course of the weekend. The entry fee for beginners is $40 and includes play in the main event and one other tournament of your choice. Players wishing to enter all three brackets may do so for an additional $20. There is a discounted registration fee of $10 that applies to all beginner players.
All three tournaments will be a round robin format with at least 4 matches guaranteed. Trophies will be awarded based on win/loss record, with ties broken by head-to-head results. Depending on the number of players and their skill level each tournament may be split into two divisions, Beginner and Advanced Beginner, at the discretion of the director.
